The Ace Indian paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal produced a sensational performance to pull off the 2020 ITTF Challenger Plus Oman Open men’s singles title. This Indian legend achieved this feat after a decade long dedication and hard work. This veteran Indian was down by a game but recovered well to outclass the top-seeded Marcos Freitas of Portugal 6-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-9, 3-11, 17-15 in the final.
India is currently in 8th position with 286 points on ITTF men’s team rankings.
Indian paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal has achieved the carrier best rankings and is currently at 31st spot in the rankings.
A Very heartwarming news is there for all the table tennis admirers, Manika Batra is nominated for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award this year. This is India’s highest sporting honor and she is truly a deserving person to receive this honor. She has performed marvelously at all levels to make the nation proud of her. At 2018 Common Wealth Games, Manika Batra became the first Indian female player to win a singles gold medal. In Asian Games the same year, she made history by winning mixed doubles bronze with Achanta Sharath Kamal. She is currently ranked 63rd in the world with 4575 points.
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran is an Indian table tennis player who ranked 32 in the world as of April 2020. He achieved the 24th spot in the world’s ranking and is the only Indian paddler to achieve this rank. He has also clinched many ITTF tournaments and some of them are:
a silver medal in ITTF Major- Bulgaria 2017 doubles, bronze medal in ITTF Major – Swedish 2017 doubles, and gold in ITTF Challenge – Belgium 2017 singles tournament.
